Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day weekend started off great.  Football Saturday morning, a few chores, Heckrodt Nature Center, the pet store and then out for ice cream.  We had intended to go to the grocery store at night, but neighbors walked over and we ended up playing outside all night.

The Nature Center was very cool.  We definitely went at the right time.  I imagine it is mosquito heaven there in the summer.  The kids loved the nature center and had a lot of fun on the trails.  It was a really nice day out, Ryan got really warm and Leah's legs got tired, but we had fun!  We saw a few snakes, turtles, fish jumping, and 8 deer.

Towards the end of our adventure Leah fell asleep while I was carrying her.  After awhile Mike grabbed her and carried her the rest of the way.  Mike later described the situation.  He said that it was like carrying a sweaty 35 lb pot bellied pig around.  Leah, your dad is a jokester.  He says these things in the most loving way possible.

After going to the pet store to replace a few of the fish that died during the cleaning of the tank...in one night we went from 13 fish to 6...we stopped for some ice cream at Tom's.  Ryan thought the seats would really spin around.  Leah was terrified so she sat in a regular seat.  Ryan was so fascinated with the amusement park seats.  He kept asking why they were in there and why they didn't work.

That was Saturday.  Sunday is where the weekend took a turn for the worse.  Mike woke up sick.  Sick, sick.  So the kids and I were on our own.  We managed to have a fun day, but we missed Daddy.  We went to the store to get Daddy some supplies and we picked up doughnuts for us.  Then we packed up lunch and headed to Fritse Park.  The kids were very excited to eat on the bridge.

Selfie on the bridge.  It was Mother's Day, I had to get in one pic.

After lunch we played at the playground.  The kids went down the big slide only a few times though, Leah saw a bug and freaked out and Ryan bumped his butt and said he was done.  So we played on the train and played lemonade stand and climbed and went down the little slides.

He picked these for me for my Mother's Day gift

After the park we went to the library.  Home for some Mario Kart and then to Oshkosh to celebrate with Grandma Pam.  She made us dinner and then I treated us to DQ.  When I asked what people wanted, Ryan said the cookie dough kind right away.  I didn't even know that he knew what a Blizzard was!  Leah had strawberry.  It was a fun weekend, it was too bad that Mike was sick...but I got to spend the day with the 2 people that made me a mom...and really, I can't ask for anything else!!!
